We would like to take a moment to address an important matter that affects the enjoyment and flow of our rounds at Oxley Golf Club—pace of play. As we all know, golf is best enjoyed when everyone is mindful of their position on the course. Please remember that your position is behind the group in front of you, not simply ahead of the group behind.
In accordance with Oxley Golf Club’s Code of Conduct, we will be implementing a clearer process for managing slow play. This will help ensure that all members and guests enjoy a smooth and timely round.
The process will be as follows:
- First Offence: You will be warned and given 30 minutes to regain your position in the field.
- Second Offence: If no progress has been made, a two-stroke penalty will be applied.
- Third Offence: If the group remains out of position after another 30 minutes, disqualification may occur.
We do understand that certain situations—such as multiple lost balls—can make it difficult to keep up. These circumstances will always be considered before any penalties are imposed.
While we acknowledge that such measures may not be well-received by everyone, we believe they are necessary to protect the experience of the majority, who have voiced their support for more efficient play. The Pro Shop and Club are working closely to ensure that pace-of-play standards are fair, reasonable, and in the best interests of the membership.
Helpful Reminders to Improve Pace of Play:
- Place your clubs on the path to the next hole before putting.
- Putt out if you’re not on someone’s line.
- Hit a provisional if there’s any chance your ball is lost.
- Shortest hitters should play first.
- Limit ball searches to a maximum of 3 minutes.
- Do not call up on par 3s if the next tee is clear.
- Once two players have holed out, they should proceed to the next tee.
- Record scores at the next tee, not on the green.
Let’s work together to maintain a pace that respects everyone’s time and enhances the experience for all players.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
