An extremely productive horticultural month it’s been on course with garden makeovers, tree lopping & planting out taking place on various tee and green surrounds. The 16th hole has an entirely new look from the tee with the previously overgrown shaded tee surround, now a formal garden with clean lines & edges. We’ve circumnavigated the garden with a sleeper border, utilised large river rock as a dry creek theme and reshaped the existing Moraya and Brunfelsia plants to formal hedges. A once lost Waterhousea floribunda (weeping lilly pilly) is now the centrepiece of the garden after once being blocked out by other large invasive vines and trees. The yellow Melaleuca’s on the back of the tee have been reduced in height by half and in time will be shaped into a formal hedge.

The 16th green surround garden has also been transformed into a formal garden with the same scope of works carried out. Heavy hedging has been instigated on the line of yellow Melaleuca’s running parallel to Boundary Road. Once towering trees, these plants have been cut down to 5 foot high soon to be hedges. River rock has replaced the mulch that previously would be washed away in heavy storms and all noxious vines and trees have been removed. A very large Ponytail palm was a pleasant surprise find under the dark screened canopy of plants. It now stands proud as a key focal point of the garden.

The 14th tee garden has been transformed into a Bromeliad garden. This area once was a bit of an eye sore but now with the mass planting of Broms and the removal of all other unnecessary plants it looks quite attractive. The use of small tumbler sandstone rocks & donated agave’s make this garden maintenance free.

The 3rd tee gardens have been cleaned and tidied with the old grevilleas succumbing to age and being replaced by new stock. Brush cut, sprayed, mulched, hedged and pruned these gardens are once again aesthetically pleasing. The garden on the cart path infront of the tee has been cleared to make way for a mass planting of lavender coming into spring.

Our winter concreting is almost complete with only the 12th hole left to be boxed up and poured. This will take place over the next couple of weeks with concrete confirmed for the 15th and 22nd of the month. The 12th hole will require the removal of some of the existing paver path so a new concrete buggy path can be laid from the ladies tee down the LHS of the hole beyond the start of the fairway. The total distance of this path is about 80m. The 2nd, 9th & 18th holes have all been concreted and will all be solid turfed along the edges by months end. These areas along with all the paths we have concreted are an instant improvement of the course and benefit not only the golf carts but the condition of the course playability around the tees and greens.
